Stanley
Stanley was built in 1863 after gold was discovered on Lightning Creek. It was even larger than Barkerville and over half the population was Chinese. The Chinese were primarily brought over to help build the railroads and after they were allowed to stay. Many of the Chinese opened businesses and mined their own claims. Stanley was a prosporous town and provided everything you could need, including 3 hotels. One of those hotels still stands today. Once the creeks gave less gold, many of the miners moved to Barkerville. Today there is very little left of Stanley except the cemetery and the Lightning Creek Hotel.
